Florida Politics: “Daniella Levine Cava releases first TV ad in advance of Democratic debate”

Miami-Dade County mayoral candidate Daniella Levine Cava is out with her first TV ad since launching her campaign, calling out the “crisis” faced by Miami-Dade County residents.

“A community in crisis,” the ad’s narrator begins as ominous music blares in the background.

“Wages, housing, transit, environment, affordability. Too many are suffering as the crisis cripples middle class and working families. Residents being priced out of homes, traffic worsening with nothing more than empty promises from yesterday’s politicians.

“In 2020, the crisis will meet its match, a true problem solver: Daniella Levine Cava.” Levine Cava herself then chimes in. “After a lifetime of service, I am ready to step out boldly with a vision for the future.”

“Join Daniella Levine Cava for Miami-Dade County Mayor,” the ad’s narrator concludes.

Levine Cava currently sits on the County Commission, representing District 8. She jumped into the Mayor’s race back in April.

Currently, only two other candidates have joined the field: former County Commissioner Juan Zapata and entrepreneur Monique Nicole Barley.

But with Mayor Carlos Gimenez term-limited in 2020, many more candidates are expected to enter the contest.

Current Commissioners Jean Monestime and Xavier Suarez will likely be among that group. And former Mayor Alex Penelas has already raised more than $900,000 as he prepares for a run.

Levine Cava’s ad is set to air on both nights of the first Democratic debate, which is taking place in Miami. The ad will air on cable news as well as NBC, whose family of networks will be broadcasting the debate.

“The first Democratic presidential debate hosted in Miami-Dade gives our campaign a unique opportunity to begin a direct conversation with voters in our community about the growing challenges our county faces and why Daniella Levine Cava is well prepared to lead Miami-Dade as its first female Mayor,” said Christian Ulvert, a senior advisor to the campaign.

“Her life’s work, coupled with her compassion and experience to lead in tough moments, are the reasons Daniella Levine Cava has support in every corner of Miami-Dade County. Our first TV ad will tap into what many voters feel today.
