Since taking office, Mayor Daniella Levine Cava has taken historic action to move Miami-Dade County forward.

Economic Growth
  • Passed historic tax cuts — the first property tax cut in over a decade and lowest combined rate since 1982 — to put more money back in our residents’ pockets 
  • Cut red tape to build a business-friendly environment in Miami-Dade County while investing in our County’s small businesses like expanding purpose driven procurement and launching our STRIVE305 program that helps business owners access capital, training, and more
  • Launched “Broadband and Digital Equity Action Plan” to ensure our County is connected with high speed and affordable internet
  • Launched BizUp program to provide grants to emerging local small businesses to help move our community forward + create new jobs
Strengthening Public Safety
  • Helped Miami-Dade achieve one of the lowest gun violence rates among WA major metro areas nationwide through the “Peace and Prosperity Plan” which invests in our law enforcement, works to prevent crime, and launches public safety programs to keep our families safe
  • Launched Operation Community Shield that helped take 3,000 guns off the street
Tackling Affordable Housing
  • Tackled the affordable housing crisis by launching the “Miami-Dade County Affordable Housing Trust Fund,” the Emergency Rental Assistance Program that has helped 25,000 families,  the “Building Blocks Plan” which works with the private sector to accelerate affordable housing development,  and adopting our County’s first ever Tenant’s Bill of Rights
  • Launched the Office of Housing Advocacy to help residents navigate their housing needs
  • Expanding affordable housing with nearly 32,000 units being built + thousands more in the pipeline
Improving Public Transportation
  • Completing the South Corridor to connect the South Dade community
  • MetroRail and MetroMover station enhancements that upgrade elevators and escalators, and bus shelters for riders
  • Fully implementing the Better Bus Network to increase route frequency
  • Championed the North Corridor Rail project and the South Corridor project to connect residents to more opportunities + help aging adults stay connected
Climate Resilience
  • Established Chief Bay Officer + reduced pollution by investing in shore power at Port Miami
  • Fought climate change by making climate-friendly investments such as converting our County’s transportation fleet to electric and investing in shore power at Port Miami 
  • Championed transition from septic to sewer to protect our waterways + ensure the county is prepared for the future
  • Developing “Miami-Dade Climate Action Plan” to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across our County
Leadership & Protecting Our Freedoms
  • Led our County’s pandemic response and ensured we emerged one of the most recovered economies in the nation
  • Promoted an inclusive County by creating a new office of Equity and Engagement
  • Fought for workers rights + the right to organize, pushing back on harmful government overreach
  • Fought to prevent discrimination based on gender identity in the Miami Dade County Human Rights Ordinance
  • Called on federal government to grant + extend TPS to Nicaraguans + Venezuelans while supporting safe + legal options for migrants from Venezuela, Nicaragua, Haiti, + Cuba to live + work in Miami-Dade
Delivering for Seniors
  • Delivered more than 1 Million meals to seniors + 70,000 transit trips to adult daycare centers
  • Increased Save Our Seniors Homeowners’ Relief Fund by nearly $19 Million to provide financial relief
  • Committed over $55 Million to build + rehabilitate thousands of senior housing units across the county
  • Launched the Elder and Vulnerable Adult (EVA) Working Group to stop abuse
